What is an elimination diet?   
As the name implies, this diet is designed to temporarily avoid certain foods for 2 weeks (this is called the elimination phase), followed by a period of systematic reintroduction of certain food groups. People with severe digestive issues may be asked to remain on the Elimination Phase for a full month before moving on to re-introduce. It is essential to give the body time to heal and repair so you can have the best results.

Preparing Your Kitchen for a Cleanse: Necessities

Your kitchen will be the most important command post of your cleanse. Be prepared!
What to post and where to stay on track:
Post your cleanse calendar in your kitchen so you can see your start date and finish date. Post your Elimination Diet on the fridge for quick and easy reference. It is also a great idea to post your goals, or some motivational quotes that will keep you on track. 
Get your systems in place,
Make sure your pantry is clear of all packaged foods, tempting foods, and those not on your cleanse.

The Elimination Diet, is a dietary program based on removing all of the foods from our diet known to cause allergies, food sensitivities, and cause disruptions in the digestive process. When our foods excite allergic reactions, our body uses more energy to address the inflammation, leaving us feeling tired, bloated, constipated, gassy and depressed following meals. Allergic reactions to foods can also lead to cravings for more food and weight gain.

This could be the best step you take during your cleanse to last a life time.  This step involves scheduling and preparing your home for cleansing. Doing a cleanse program at home has both its challenges and benefits. Obviously it is more finacially viable that going to a fasting retreat centre or spa; but it is also easy to fall into old habits. Changing habits is the most difficult task no matter what habits you are trying to change, changes in the way you eat and drink are some of the hardest.

A whole food is one that is in it's closest form to how nature first produced it. Your whole foods include: Fruit, Vegetables, Grains such as Oats, Quinoa, Whole Grain Rice, Beans/Legumes, Eggs, Nuts and Seeds.

Detox programs are now a dime a dozen, this makes it harder for people to find the right cleanse for them. You can do a 3-day, 5-day, 7-day, 21-day and even up to 40 days on a cleanse. What determines how long of a cleanse you will need?
